WHOLESALE  TIES

Although there are other tie sizes typical railroad tie is 8' ft. to 8-1/2 feet long, 9 inches wide, and 7 inches thick.

STANDARD PRESSURE TREATED & TIE TREATING OF CREOSOTE SOLUTIONS ALL HARDWOOD CROSSTIES ARE APPROVED BY THE (EPA) FOR THE STANDARD RULE OF THUMB.

3000 Ties per mile that's with a tie spacing of about 21 to 24 inches. The gap could be 12 inches or less.
